Certified Operators

This page is to acknowledge all Operators from First Nations/Native Americans/aboriginals, municipal, government and private sector from all countries, provinces or states. We recognize the many responsibilities of water plant operators, their dedication to employer & community to provide safe water, their commitment to working 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and being on call. Operators must be "a jack of all trades" while attaining certification levels from "Operator in Training" through Classes 1-4 in Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Wastewater Treatment and Wastewater Collection. Operators must also maintain their licenses by taking mandatory courses and maintaining anywhere from 30-50 hours of training per year. As well, operators may work in one, two, three, or all four areas of water/wastewater operations.
With all of this, operators must possess skills and knowledge in many, many areas. We recognize that operators must know and work with any combination of skills in many different areas including: workplace safety, legislation & compliance, basic & applied math, basic and applied science, equipment; pumps, blowers, pipes, valves and controls & instrumentation, drinking water treatment process; screening, conventional treatment, other treatment processes, drinking water distribution, cross connection control & backflow prevention, fire hydrants, flushing, storage facilities, wastewater treatment; preliminary, primary, secondary, and tertiary treatments, sludge digestion, lagoons, wastewater collection, gravity collection systems, alternative wastewater collection systems, public health & microbiology, environmental protection, sampling, laboratory testing, hydraulics, disinfection, waste management, supervisory skills, manager skills, vacuum, pump, & bulk water vehicles(driver/operator), diver(SCUBA), electrical, plumbing, welding, pipefitting, trainer, public spokesperson, administrator, record-keeper, operations & maintenance, housekeeper & caretaker of facilities, inspector, trouble-shooter, computers and related programs, emergency response, heavy equipment, quality control/quality assurance, ordering, shipping & receiving, etc. etc. etc.

We would like acknowledge and post the credentials, communities and accomplishments of all operators and dedicate this page as a tribute to "you the operator". We want to hear from you.
