COURSE OVERVIEW
In an emergency, the mission of water treatment and distribution system operators is to protect the health of its customers by being prepared to respond immediately to a variety of events that may result in the contamination of the potable water supply or disruption of the source water.
COURSE OUTLINE
Risk assessment and emergency preparedness: Definitions, methodology for risk assessment, critical control points and monitoring, structure of DWQMS, implementation action plan.
Emergency response plan guide: What should your plan include?
Emergency response plan: background, description of facilities, contact list, roles and responsibilities, emergency response decision tree, informing the public, list of potential emergencies, MSDSs.
Appendices: Guidance on developing emergency response plans for water systems in First Nations communities, Health Canada guides, culminating activity.
