COURSE OVERVIEW
As sewer system networks age, the risk of deterioration, blockages, and collapses becomes a major concern. As a result, communities worldwide are taking proactive measures to improve performance levels of their sewer systems. Cleaning and inspecting sewer lines are essential to maintaining a properly functioning system; these activities further a community’s reinvestment into its wastewater infrastructure.
COURSE OUTLINE
Why operation and maintenance? (the wastewater collection system operator, why O & M?)
WC Systems – Purpose, components, design (purpose, components, design).
Inspecting and testing collection systems (inspecting collection systems, inspection of manholes, CCTV, smoke testing, dye testing).
Cleaning and maintenance methods (identifying problems and selecting solutions, hydraulic cleaning, mechanical cleaning, equipment maintenance, chemicals).
Underground repair (underground work, shoring, construction, repair of service lines, main lines, sealing grout, manhole repairs).
Safety procedures (routing traffic, manhole hazards, equipment and procedures for confined space entry, safety equipment and procedures, excavations, other concerns).
